About ten years ago, I realized that I had aquired about 25 more pounds than I needed. This was back when low fat was "in" so I began on a very low fat diet eating no more than 10 grams of total fat per day! I ate every carb in site, including things like candy corn and Skittles, like they were going out of style. I lost the weight, but I kept thinking…"This can't be good for me". I asked several doctor friends about this method I had chosen, and I always got the same answer, "If it's working I wouldn't worry about it." It wasn't until about 3 years ago that I learned how detrimental my diet was to my health. Since then I have made it a point to do my own research, especially when my intuition tells me something isn't right.
